Austin Champs in the Film, Sole Survivor

CHAMPS IN FILMS, SOLE SURVIVOR

The story starts with a bombing mission in WW2 by a Boeing B25 and the formation is attacked by German fighters. The bomber is damaged and the bomb aimer\navigator panics and bails out, he survives. The bomber and remaining crew get lost with no navigator and crash land in the Libyan desert and the crew soon die and become ghosts.

The bomber wreck is found by chance in 1970 - when an aircraft wreck is found and has been investigated the number on the aeroplane is painted out so it is not reported again.

A team is sent to investigate and bring home any remains of the crew - the cowardly navigator, now a Brigadier General, is in the investigating team and is trying to cover up his cowardice. The ghosts of the crew believe they will be rescued but, of course, they never will.

I think it's a good film.
I bought my copy on eBay, £5.35 incl. postage, the DVD was multi-region.
