Austin Champ, Sold in Belgium, tailgate |
Thanks to luzelan for this reference. Sold in Belgium, 2012. Seller's description, "Good and easy restoration project. Motor start/runs, all Brakes are working, Car can drive. New battery's, Chassis ok. UK papers V5 . Car is located in Belgium, Roeselare (15 miles from Ypres), So not so far from the UK." Editor's notes: if the Champ was made in 1955 it would have been an FFW (Fitted for Wireless) - the dynamo is single speed but it may have been changed - but the year may be wrong; the rocker box is of the cast aluminium type used on the early MK2A engines or RR built engines; the addition on the cill is not original and may be covering rusting: the inside of the hood has orginal markings; there is no towhook; the rear lights are Jeep; it has a tailgate fitted, this could be a later modification or show that the Champ was used with a 106 recoiless rifle - for a tailgate in military service see chassis no. 4703. Jeep rear lights. |
